Investment trainer
“Yes, they’re an investment, but I recently bought a white Gucci loafer and they’ve worn out over and over again. They are timeless and iconic so I will be relying on them for years to come (serious cost-versus-wear power), the white adds freshness to a simple outfit and the elusive Gucci horsebit makes everything look more expensive another thing. Also, if you’re going to wear shoes, wear flats so you’re really wearing them ad nauseum.”
The raised essence
“I recently discovered Alex Mill on a trip to New York but you can also buy their elevated basics in the UK. This striped shirt is at the top of my wish list for Spring – those little details make it stand out from the crowd: the scoop hem, grandad collar, pearl buttons and striped pocket. So good with jeans but I’d also wear it over a swimsuit on holiday.”
The stylish coat
“Check coats aren’t going anywhere, so if you haven’t bought one yet, now might be the time. Boden is extremely long and the red and navy combo gives a subtle pop of colour. You could wear this to work, but I’d love it at the weekend with a gray sweater and a cap.”
The on-trend logo cap
“Speaking of caps, a logo is an instant way to add some edge to your ensemble. I haven’t given up yet, but I plan to this Spring…”
The perfect white tee
“I’m always on the hunt for the perfect tee and I think Anthropologie may have nailed this slightly cropped number with its deep capped sleeves. Great with trousers or high-waisted skirts.”
The versatile bag
“I’m always on the bedlinen side of the sale and this set from Anthropologie is absolutely beautiful – and neutral enough to work in any room.”
The cool knock
“I’m really happy that Arket cut this little striped boucle jacket in black because it adds another element of French cool with the blue and white stripes. Zipped up, it can be worn with black cigarette pants in a smarter way, but it is also perfect unzipped with jeans and Converse. Not applicable: red lips.”
The infinity sunglasses
“A pair of show flats will go with a suit or jeans and a sweater. These loafers have serious Gucci vibes.”
The denim alternative
“Instead of buying another pair of jeans, opt for a denim skirt for a new season update. This is a great transitional mid-blue shade and will look as good with long boots and a roll neck now as it will with slides and a tee in the summer.”
The luxe blouse
“This is a great time to buy a luxe blouse to add new season glamor to your existing wardrobe. This one by Doen (one of my all-time favorite brands) has gorgeous puff sleeves and a little peplum so it’s great with trousers or high-waisted skirts – and the pop of color and vintage floral print is just right very forward. Now layer up and treat yourself as it warms up.”

The flattering dress
“Such a great cut and a great shade of red, this is such a relaxed – and functional – dress. It feels clean and modern and because it doesn’t have a font, it won’t date. Wear a thin roll neck underneath for extra warmth and consider swapping out the belt for a tan, navy or even pink belt.

The classic knitting
“A classic and super soft knit, to wear alone or over a shirt or dress. I’m sold.”
The sandals sold
“In my experience, really good sandals are found quickly – and these are really good sandals. So, I would buy them now and then smugly put them away for a few months…”
