The Brit Awards returned this weekend in full swing, with numerous slurred acceptance speeches, celebrities hiding under tables doing God knows what and a handful of technical difficulties. The British as we know them were the best: utter chaos.
Of course, the outfits were just as edgy and fun as the awards ceremony and, despite the Brits being awkwardly sandwiched between the Grammys and the Oscars, two events that could be argued to be more of a treat, no one celeb was caught slipping.
For most people, the first taste of the British red carpet came in the form of Sam Smith – puffed up and pouting in his inflatable latex suit, made by Kerala-born designer Harri, with huge protruding leg and shoulder elements, at look equal parts ridiculous. and wonderful.
The stylish illusion was destroyed a little by a video of the singer walking around in his suit, which some Twitter users who were thinking quickly based on the sound of clown shoes or Squidward’s squelching noise from Spongebob Squarepants walk.

They won back some cool points, though, with their performance of Unholy with bandmate Kim Petras, where they looked fat in leather clad atop a car bonnet with a crop of spunky backup dancers.
Also present was Lizzo, who looked more like Lizzy McGuire in her Act No. two-piece outfit. 1 – a large pink feather headdress, in which her head was set like a pearl inside a chest, paired with a long silk skirt, which the singer then ripped to reveal a shorter skirt that allowed her to dance (and play the flute at the same time – kill).
Harry Styles was another star who showed off multiple outfit changes throughout the night, starting with a black Nina Ricci suit complete with a large black floral corset – a Carrie Bradshaw favorite – before changing into a short red sequined blazer, shirt sans, and flared black trousers. for his opening performance of As It Was. He finished with a chic tailored suit and silk shirt, unbuttoned to his belly, which he wore to accept his four Brit awards.
One of Harry’s awards was presented by actor and cocktail king Stanley Tucci.
There was plenty of leather in the crowd, with girl group Flo looking the picture of Destiny’s Child in their maroon leather outfits, which changed slightly for the performer. If Rihanna made bridesmaids dresses, they would look like this.
Among the leather-clad clan was comedian Daisy May Cooper, unrecognizable in her short black leather dress and high heels. Cooper and Am I Being Unreasonable co-star Selin Hizli presented the award for best rock/rock act, where they made fun of the Sugababes’ bathroom antics (or lack thereof), which ITV censored.
Londoner 23 Brit Diary Awards after party
There were also more skin suits. Singer-songwriter Charli XCX arrived on the red carpet wearing a see-through look by Ludovic de Saint Sernin, adorned with Swarovski crystals and brought together by a see-through white thong worn underneath. This wasn’t even XCX’s best look of the night, however, as she opted to change into a ‘Real Winner’ slogan t-shirt for the Brits after party (she was nominated for best pop diet/ R&B but Harry beat her. Styles).
And, of course, some caped crusaders were seen in the crowd. Little Mix member Leigh-Anne Pinnock turned up in an orange dress with a matching shawl, the latest to jump on board the hooded dress that has dominated red carpets this year. Overall, it was leathery, feathery, OTT and a bit of a car crash – just as the Brits should be.
